Two existing separate structures, one containing studios and sleeping rooms, the other containing cooking and eating spaces, were unified into a new year-round residence by the introduction of a tower connector that contains a living room, entry and master bedroom suite. High clerestory windows introduce light from all directions and provide natural ventilation. The rear of the house opens on to an enclosed private courtyard and garden.
